I recently signed a contract, May 31st, on an old historic home and wrote out a check for $1000.00 earnest money based on an inspection. The following day when the signed acceptance and disclosure were forwarded to me there was a stipulation that a gas lamp attached to the home would be removed. I indicated verbally that was not satisfactory. After two days of waiting for a reply, the agent called to negotiate. I again indicated the lamp should stay, that was Friday of last week. Today the agent called to say the lamp would be removed and if I wished I could back out of the contract.
Any suggestions on how I might save the lamp, after all it is a historic home, would be appreciated. Is there anything I can do?
