I am a greetings cards publisher/designer. How far are people allowed to incorporate traditional fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters in their greetings cards concepts? Does anyone or any company own copyright of the fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters eg Snow White, Cinderella, Little Miss Muffett etc.? And are people allowed to use their own versions of these characters or their names, or refer to them on their designed greetings cards? Are people allowed to use such characters on their greetings cards and make them in any way resemble the traditional charcters we are accustomed to in the books eg can we make our own version of Snow White but make her wear clothes in any way resembling the kind of clothes Snow White wears in the books? Thanks.
