Interstate 95 is a heavily traveled north/south artery that has long been targeted for
drug trafficking. One county sheriff has assigned heavy patrols to the area and has
created a profile for suspected drug traffickers suspected of transporting drugs from South Florida to the states north of the Florida. He ran on a campaign promising to
reduce drug traffic through the county. He claims his profile is the probable cause for a
stop and search and is based on the crime trends and patterns that he has reviewed.
What variables do you suspect are included in his profile? What are the problems
associated with his plan?

The variables will be bright colored vehicles that are less then 3 years old. Dark skinned, or African American occupants. Women of either race driving alone at night in the late hours. Excess weight in the rear of the vehicle. Slow driving.

The problems with this is that it is most often complained that this is a racial profiling and unfair towards minorities.

Let me know if you require further assistance.

They would target the above mentioned people driving the type cars mentioned and look for any signs of nervousness or wrong driving procedures. They may possibly stay behind them for 20 miles and the nervousness alone will cause them to do something to allow the officer to pull them over. Whether it be slow driving or careless. Anyone dark skinned driving an overloaded back end vehicle is automatic suspect as to the weight being wrong. If the back end is lower then most often they are carrying a load hidden within the vehicle. Let me know if this is what your needing and wanting.
